The Circle of 100 Emergency Fund

The Circle of 100 Emergency Fund is awarded to students facing an unforeseen financial adversity. Awards range from $100 to $500, depending on each student’s needs. Applicants must submit to the scholarship office documents that may prove the need for the emergency fund. Needs that may be considered for this emergency fund include an outstanding medical or electric bill, tuition, academic-related expenses, housing or eviction issues, or a past-due childcare bill. Recipients will be selected on a need basis, and the approved amount varies according to each applicant’s stated need.
Applicants must:
*Submit two letters of recommendation from faculty or staff
*Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
*Have completed a minimum of 40 credits
*Answer all supplemental questions

    All applications and required materials must be submitted online through the scholarship system. Paper applications will not be accepted, and incomplete applications will not be considered.

  1. Describe your financial emergency (Note: This could include family emergencies, fire, theft, injury, housing or eviction issues, past due electric or childcare bill, outstanding medical bill, facing food insecurity or transportation issues, tuition balance, etc. Please provide supporting documents: accident reports, police reports, doctor's note, counselor or faculty statement based on a review.)
  2. Describe the services you have provided and/or planning to provide at Hostos Community College and/or your community. (Note: service can be volunteer work in clubs, tutoring, assistance to other students, community organizations including schools, churches, etc.)
