The Dolly Martinez Equity and Empowerment Endowed Scholarship
The FUND will be used to award scholarships that help to defray the cost of tuition, fees and other costs of attendance for students who have matriculated at the COLLEGE, without consideration of legal status. Applications will be reviewed by the COLLEGE’s Scholarship Office and/or Scholarship Committee. Scholarship recipients must be individuals who have demonstrated an interest in “enhancing the status & role of women” or “advancing issues related to gender equity”. Recipients must also meet the following merit-based criteria:
i. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
ii. Students may either enroll in the Women’s and Gender Studies program or complete at least three credits in related coursework.
iii. Evidence of leadership potential, which may be demonstrated through one of the following:
• A recommendation from a Hostos faculty member.
• A one-page essay (approximately 500 words) that addresses the following prompts:
o Why the topic of equity and empowerment is important to me.
All applications and required materials must be submitted online through the scholarship system. Paper applications will not be accepted, and incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Once awarded, this is a one-time scholarship
