Dr. Evelina Antonetty was a remarkable figure, serving various roles to many individuals. These included:

Evelina Antonetty was an influential leader within the Puerto Rican diaspora during the twentieth century. Her public life began as a union organizer and aide to progressive elected officials. As a mother, she became deeply involved in school oversight and established the United Bronx Parents, a parent advocacy agency that gained national recognition and served as a model for similar initiatives nationwide.
Living through a crucial period in Puerto Rican history, she was often a key player in driving change in her community.
Evelina Antonetty Scholarship for Community Activism
The Comité Noviembre Evelina Antonetty Scholarship for Community Activism is awarded to young individuals aged 17 to 27 who have demonstrated commitment through volunteer work, advocacy, or activism aimed at creating change in the Puerto Rican/Hispanic community. Eligible candidates must have engaged in these efforts for more than five consecutive years, focusing on social, humanitarian, or social justice issues.
The scholarship recipient will receive a $1,000 award (one-time offer).

ELIGIBILITY
Be of Puerto Rican descent
Pursuing a major that will impact social justice, public policy, civic engagement, or human rights issues
Enrolled in an accredited college or university by fall 2025
Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better
Age between 18 and 27
Undergo a virtual interview with the selection committee (in English or Spanish)
Cannot be a former CN scholarship awardee of any CN Scholarship
Note: If selected, only one CN scholarship will be granted if the applicant applies for multiple CN Scholarships.

A biographical sketch
One letter of recommendation
High School transcript (for High School Students)
Academic transcripts (for College Students)
Headshot photo
Additional details for the recommendation letter:
Must be from a community member who knows your work and leadership.
Must be written on organizational letterhead.
Must include the contact phone number of the person writing the recommendation letter.
DEADLINE
The application package must be received by Friday, May 02, 2025.
Application packages received after the due date will be disqualified.
Applicants selected for an interview will be notified by email.
Conditions for disqualification of Comité Noviembre Scholarship recipients:
Providing false application information
Failing to graduate from High School by June of 2025
Not being enrolled in an accredited college or university by Fall of 2025
Not being of Puerto Rican descent.
Being a former CN scholarship awardee of any CN Scholarships
Comité Noviembre will make scholarship payments in November 2025, and only upon receipt of official college registration/enrollment and other requested documentation.
