Ramon J. Jimenez Memorial Scholarship

The Ramón Jiménez Memorial Scholarship of Social Policy and Practice has been established in honor and tribute to Ramón J. Jiménez, Esq. This award grants $500 of tuition fees to two (2) qualified, full-time students enrolled in their final college year at Hostos Community College.
Eligible applicants must:

• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
• Complete the Hostos online scholarship application
• Demonstrate financial need, together with documentation of any other financial aid received, or expected to receive
• Submit a 750-word essay responding to the following prompt:
  1. What are some significant challenges Hostos students encounter regularly that may jeopardize their college education?
  2. What are some practicable public policies that could address these challenges? (Feel free to speak about the challenges you have personally experienced – or in a loved one’s life
  3. How do you relate your experience to the Ramón J. Jiménez legacy of Social Justice? (Feel free to do research online or learn more about it by reading the information below.)
• Submit two recommendation letters from professors or staff attesting to your interest and experience in social justice causes and issues
• Submit a recommendation letter from a community organization or Hostos group indicating experience and involvement with community work
• Provide a copy of your most current transcript
