The Aspira Capital Management and Wright Foundation Scholarship for Students Pursuing Degrees In Stem

This Scholarship is only for students in the STEM programs or Majors
The FUND will be used to award scholarships that help to defray the cost of tuition, fees, and other costs associated with Hostos students’ completion of requirements for graduation as a STEM major at Hostos and/or subsequent pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in STEM after graduating from Hostos. Recipients must be enrolled in, and in the process of completing, their penultimate semester as a STEM major at Hostos and be scheduled/on track to receive their associate degree at Hostos the following semester. Recipients must plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in STEM at an accredited four-year educational institution within one year of graduation from Hostos. Preference will be given to engineering majors who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering at an accredited four-year educational institution within one year of graduation from Hostos. Preference will also be given to candidates who are open to receiving mentorship, to joining the Hostos network of STEM/Engineering alumni, and to updating the Hostos Alumni Relations Office annually with their (email) address and/or other contact information. To be eligible, a student must be a United States citizen or a legal resident of the United States. Applications will be reviewed by the COLLEGE’s Financial Aid Office, Scholarship Office, and Scholarship Committee.
Scholarship recipients must also meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA at Hostos of 3. 0 or higher ( on a 4 .0 scale)
  • Proof of application for admission to a STEM program at an accredited four-year college or university and acceptance letter, if available
  • Financial need, as determined by Hostos’ Financial Aid Director (or equivalent) and/or students’ FAFSA (or equivalent)
  • Potential for leadership as evidenced by at least one of the following:
  • Recommendation by a Hostos STEM faculty member
  • A one-page essay (approximately 500 words) that addresses one of the following:
    a. Why a degree in STEM is important to me
    b. What I aspire to achieve in my STEM career
  • Recommendation by the Scholarship Office Coordinator and/or Scholarship Committee
  • Student must attend Honors Convocation
    Qualifying Majors:
    *Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Liberal Arts and Science (Science), Forensic Science.
