The Randi Potack, Judith Z. Potack, and Dorothy Hausberg Memorial Endowed Scholarship

This Scholarship was established by Mr. Michael Potack, a long-time supporter of Hostos Community College and the chairman of Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services. It honors the memory of three extraordinary women who were deeply concerned for the well-being of those around them: Mr. Potack’s wife, Randi Potack; his mother, Judith Z. Potack; and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Hausberg. It is also a lasting tribute to the Potack family and friends’ vision for giving back to the Bronx community that supported and nurtured the Unitex organization during its 100-year service in the medical uniform and linen rental industry. For Mr. Potack, it is a way of thanking the men and women in the community who helped Unitex become the country’s largest family-owned healthcare service provider.

The Randi Potack, Judith Z. Potack, and Dorothy Hausberg Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to 22 students ($4,000 each). The students will be notified in the Fall of 2024. The scholarship will be disbursed $2,000 in the fall 24 semester and $2,000 in the spring 25, provided the student maintains the minimum GPA and remains enrolled at Hostos.

The FUND will be used to award scholarships that help to defray the cost of tuition, fees, and other costs of attendance for students who have matriculated at the college without consideration of financial or legal status. Applications will be reviewed by COLLEGE’s Scholarship Office and Scholarship Committee. Eligibility is reserved for students who meet all of the following criteria:

• Minimum Cumulative GPA at Hostos of 2.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
• Successful completion of all but the last two semesters of the RN program
