Pedro Zamora Young Leaders Scholarships

Pedro Zamora Young Leaders Scholarships support the academic efforts of young activists working in their communities today. Using the HIV/AIDS activism movement as an example, the scholarship program supports those taking up health and social justice work in its many forms and working at the intersection of these movements with their communities to drive progress.

■ Eligible Applicants: All current high school seniors, first-year college students, sophomores, and juniors (ages 27 and younger), including those who are finishing their bachelor’s degree, are eligible. Scholars’ academic, extracurricular, or career pursuits should be consistent with the goals of the scholarship program, demonstrate an active commitment to community justice work, and take on public service and leadership roles

■ Brief 250 Personal statement: reflect on how your life has been impacted by fear, discrimination, stigma, and or hate. Why do you believe yourself to be a good candidate for this scholarship? Briefly describe some of the ways you provide service and/or leadership in the fight against fear, discrimination, stigma, and or hate and how your studies, career plans, or public service will contribute to those efforts.
