The Dream. US Scholarship

THE 2023-23 NATIONAL ROUND IS NOW OPEN!

The first step to determining whether to apply for The Dream.US scholarship is to confirm that you are eligible for either our Scholarship for high school graduates or our scholarship for community college graduates. The criteria are set forth below.

High School and HSE Program Graduates:

- If you have graduated or will graduate from high school or a GED program by the end of the Spring 2022 term this scholarship may be for you!
- You are not eligible to apply for or receive The Dream.US scholarship if you have been enrolled in a 4-year institution or a 4-year program.
- If you have taken community college classes as you could afford them, you may still apply for our High School Graduate Scholarship so long as you have not earned more than 21 college credits at a community college. College credits earned in a dual enrollment program while in high school are not counted as part of the 21 credits.

You are eligible to apply if you:

- Have graduated or will graduate from high school (or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma) by the end of the 2023-24 academic year;
- Graduated or will graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale;
- Are not and have not previously been enrolled in a four-year institution or bachelor’s program and have not earned more than 21 credits in a community college (not
counting credits earned in a pre-college or dual enrollment program in high school);
- Intend to enroll full-time in an associate or bachelor’s degree program at a Partner College no later than the Spring term of 2023-24 academic year;
- Are eligible for in-state tuition at the Partner College you want to attend (not applicable if it is a private Partner College);
- Have current DACA or TPS or certify that you meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria set forth below;
- Arrived in the United States before reaching your 16th birthday; and
- Have significant unmet financial need.

Community College Graduates:

- If you have or will graduate from a community college by the end of the Summer of 2023 and do not have the financial resources to complete your bachelor’s degree
at a 4-year university, this Scholarship may be for you!

Please Note: You are not eligible to apply for Community College Graduate Scholarship if you have been or are enrolled in a four-year institution or a four-year bachelor’s degree program.

You are eligible to apply if you:

- Have graduated or will graduate from an accredited community college or two-year degree program by the end of the 2023-24 academic year;
- Graduated or will graduate with a community college GPA of 3.0 or better on a scale of 4.0;
- Are not and have not previously enrolled in a four-year institution or a four-year bachelor’s degree program;
- Intend to enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at a Partner College no later than the Spring term of 2023-24 academic year;
- Are eligible for in-state tuition at the Partner College you want to attend (not applicable if it is a private Partner College);
- Have current DACA or TPS or certify that you meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria set forth below;
- Arrived in the United States before reaching your 16th birthday; and
- Have significant unmet financial needs.

TheDream.US Immigration Eligibility Criteria:

As part of the application, you will be required to attest, under the penalty of perjury, that you

Have a current DACA or TPS authorization and you provide your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) card number and expiration date, or Meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria and you will apply for the lawful presence or legal status as soon as the federal law allows you to do so.

The DACA criteria are as follows:

- You were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2013;
- You came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
- You have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2008, up to the present time;
- You were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2013, and had no lawful status;
- You are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, or have obtained a general education development (GED)
certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States; and
- You have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more other misdemeanors in the categories which would have disqualified you for
DACA, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.

About the Award:

The National Scholarship Award will cover your tuition and fees up to a maximum of $16,500 for an associate degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree, at one of our Partner Colleges. Please note, some Scholars may be eligible for an additional stipend of up to $4,000 (or $1,000 per year) for books, supplies, and transportation. 

Open: Scholarship applications will open on Nov. 1, 2022.
Deadline: February 28, 2023. Final notifications will be sent via email in late April 2023.
