The Madruga Family Emergency Fund for Financial Need

The Madruga Family Emergency Fund For Financial Need has been established for students that are facing outstanding medical bills, overdue electric bills, past due childcare bills, assistance with books, tuition balances, and other academic related reasons are eligible to apply. The scholarship will award up to $1000, to 12 full-time or part-time students. Awards will be allocated depending on the individual need described and in accordance with the supporting documentation provided.
This Emergency fund is open to all students currently enrolled at Hostos who are in GOOD ACADEMIC STANDING. Please note that there is no GPA requirement for freshman students, but continuing students must have a 2.0 or higher GPA. All applications and required materials must be submitted through the scholarship system. No paper applications will be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be considered and recipients will be selected on a need basis. The scholarship will close as soon as the 12 qualified candidates are nominated or when the available funds are exhausted, whichever happens first.
To qualify students must:
-Submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty, staff, academic advisor, guidance counselor, employer or supervisor
-Be currently enrolled as a Hostos student
-Answer all supplemental questions
-Have a demonstrated present need
-Submit documentation that supports the present needs as described in detail by the student in the scholarship application
-Apply through the scholarship website (paper applications will not be accepted)
