The Student Government Association Merit Scholarship Award

The Student Government Association MERIT (SGA-Merit) Scholarship is now available for Hostos students and is earned through academic achievements.
Upon eligibility, 10 students will be selected and awarded $500 each.

Eligibility Criteria:
● Must maintain a GPA of 3.0
● Must show a commitment to Community service
● Must obtain a letter of recommendation from either Hostos or CUNY faculty and staff, employer
or a community service agency
● Must write an essay of 300 words min & a maximum of 500 words in response to ONE of the following questions:
1. How will graduating in your current area of study help you make an impact/difference in our society under the current administration?
2. What inspired you to pursue your major and what are your long term goals after graduating Hostos?

PLEASE NOTE: If nominated as a possible recipient for this scholarship, you must fill out a W9 form and be in possession of any valid form of tax ID in order to receive your scholarship award.
