The Feiner Family Fund Scholarship for Extenuating Circumstances

The Feiner Family Fund Scholarship has been established for students that have “Extenuating Circumstances”. The scholarship will assist students who are currently facing housing or eviction issues, which may prevent them from completing their courses for the current semester. The scholarship will award up to $1000, to eligible full-time or part-time students. Awards will be allocated depending on the individual need described and in accordance with the supporting documentation provided.
This Emergency fund is open to all students currently enrolled at Hostos who are in good academic standing. Recipients will be required to sign an agreement, stating that upon receipt of the award they will complete the semester. No GPA required for freshmen. Continuing and transferred students must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher to qualify for this scholarship.
Incomplete applications will not be considered and paper or applications submitted by email will not be accepted. Recipients will be selected on a need basis.
To qualify students must:
-Submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty, staff, academic advisor, guidance counselor, employer or supervisor
-Be currently enrolled as a Hostos student
-Answer all supplemental questions in as much detail as possible
-Have a demonstrated need (only housing or eviction issues will be considered)
-Submit documentation that supports the needs described (in the event that you experience issues uploading your documents, contact the scholarship office for assistance, info provided below)
-Apply through the scholarship website at https://hostos.academicworks.com (paper applications will not be accepted)

  3. Please describe your educational goals and how the scholarship would benefit you.
  4. Please upload a copy of your unofficial transcript (must be downloaded from your CUNYfirst account, then uploaded on your application.)
  5. Please upload documentation that supports your described need; may include housing eviction notices, past due rent bills, proof of living in a shelter, etc..
