The Student Government Association -Hardship Scholarship Fund

The Student Government Association (SGA) Hardship Fund is available to assist Hostos students, including those who due to unforeseen circumstances have fallen on probation and are currently facing financial hardships, or housing and eviction issues.
Awards are based upon documented need and will be allocated in denominations from $150 to $1000 dollars.
Application completion and supporting documentation are required
Examples of hardships to be considered for support are:
• Past due electric bill
• An outstanding medical bill
• A past-due childcare bill
• Facing housing or eviction issues
• Needing money for food or transportation
• Having an outstanding tuition balance
• Unable to purchase books, school materials or other academic-related resources

Recipients will be chosen on the basis of their need and the amount allocated will depend on the applicant’s documented need.
There is no GPA requirement, no writing requirement, (except to complete the application) and all students, including students on probation and freshman, are welcome to apply.
To qualify students must:
-Be currently enrolled at Hostos
-Describe the financial need and extenuating circumstances you are currently facing.
-Provide documentation that supports the described need.
-Answer all supplemental questions.

Applications and all required materials must be submitted through the scholarship system. Paper applications will not be accepted and incomplete applications will not be considered.
The scholarship will close as soon as all qualified applicants have been identified and the available funds are exhausted.

PLEASE NOTE:
If nominated as a possible recipient for this scholarship, you must fill out a W9 form in order to receive your scholarship award.
