Bridge Tuition Support Assistance (BTSA)

The Bridge Tuition Support Assistance is a hardship based grant applicable towards outstanding tuition balances to assist students who are currently enrolled at Hostos Community College and are unable to complete their tuition payment as a result of unexpected circumstances and whose tuition has been impacted by the State of New York’s legislation, requiring the City University of New York’s Board of Trustees to adopt a rational tuition increase.

The Bridge Tuition Support Assistance (BTSA) has been made available by the Foundation Board of Directors of Hostos Community College.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1) Funds must be used towards the outstanding tuition balance for the Spring 2015 semester only.
EFFECTIVE JANUARY 13, 2014, BTSA FUNDS WILL NOT BE APPLIED TOWARDS OUTSTANDING BALANCES INCURRED AS A RESULT OF COURSE THAT HAVE BEEN DROPPED BY THE STUDENT.

2) Once approved, funds will be applied directly to the college rather than to the student.

3) If the financial award is increased after approval of the BTSA application, this award is subject to further review and proportionate adjustment.

4) Student is responsible for any changes to the BTSA award that may result if adjustments take place to the semester’s financial aid award.

5) The BTSA provided is limited to:
Example A: A resident student with an outstanding tuition balance may be eligible to receive up to $150 of BTSA.
Example B: A non-resident student with an outstanding tuition balance may be eligible to receive up to $240 of BTSA.

7) The BTSA is a one (1) time award for the semester, applied in the 2015 Spring semester.

8) The student has the option to participate in a benefit screening interview which will be administered by a Single Stop Advisor or designated staff member to assess his/her eligibility for other public benefits and support services.
