Women’s History Month Celebration

Students competed by writing an essay in two hours on site. Each essay explained and reflected on a quotation the student selected from among several they were given to choose from. Each quotation was accompanied by a brief biography about the author. The quotations expressed ideas about women and gender—wise words by women like Mary Wollstonecraft, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Luisa Capetillo, Margaret Sanger, Audre Lorde, Wangari Muta Matthai, Gloria Steinem and Zadie Smith.
