The Circle of 100 Emergency Fund

The Circle of 100 Emergency Fund is awarded to students facing an unforeseen financial adversity. Awards are allocated between $100 to $500 according to the needs of each individual student. Applicants must include with the application documents indicating the need for the emergency fund. Two letters of support from faculty or staff are required and the student must have a GPA of 2.5 or better. Students must have 40 credits or more.
*Previous Scholarship Recipients are NOT ELIGIBLE.

  1. Describe your financial emergency (Note: This could include family emergencies, fire, theft, injury, housing or eviction issues, past due electric or childcare bill, outstanding medical bill, facing food insecurity or transportation issues, etc. Please provide supporting documents: accident reports, police reports, doctor's note, counselor or faculty statement based on a review.)
  2. Describe the services you have provided and/or planning to provide at Hostos Community College and/or your community. (Note: service can be volunteer work in clubs, tutoring, assistance to other students, community organizations including schools, churches, etc.)
  3. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from a faculty member, advisor or staff member at the College.
